Jeep tire size

Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Gladiator stock stamps.

Jeep tire size is a trim question before it is a brand question. A Wrangler Sport leaves on a 245/75R17. A Rubicon leaves on a 285/70R17. A Rubicon 392 leaves on a 315/70R17. Those are not close. The Wrangler page is the one people search. This chart adds Grand Cherokee and Gladiator so the badge has one index.

Stock sizes by model

Diameters are calculated from the stamp. A Sport at about 31.5 inches and a 392 at about 34.4 inches are a different Jeep, even before you talk about lockers.

The 33 and 35 conversation

285/70R17 is 32.7 inches, the size shops call a 33. 315/70R17 is 34.4, the size shops call a 35. Neither is a flotation 33x12.50 or 35x12.50. If you are stepping off a Sport 245/75R17 onto 33s, that is a real diameter change. Use the 33 vs 35 page and the comparison before you order a lift you may not need, or skip a lift you do.

We will not invent a "35s on a stock JL" answer

Clearance is a bumper, fender and control-arm question. This site reports height. A shop that has done that year of JL reports whether it rubs.

Grand Cherokee is a different animal

Grand Cherokee sizes sit in the crossover band, not the Wrangler band. Do not borrow a Rubicon stamp for a Laredo. The well, the offset and the load rating are not interchangeable just because both say Jeep on the tailgate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the stock Jeep Wrangler tire size?

Sport and Sport S: 245/75R17. Sahara: 255/70R18. Willys and Rubicon: 285/70R17. Rubicon 392: 315/70R17.

Is a Rubicon already on 33s?

285/70R17 is 32.7 inches, so yes, in the slang. It is not a stamped 33x12.50.

Do Gladiator and Wrangler share tire sizes?

Often, on Sport and Rubicon. They do not share wheelbase or bed clearance. Confirm the Gladiator placard.
